Tai Chi Academy of Northern New Jersey Teacher Training

Mission: The many health benefits of Tai Chi have increased its popularity and the demand for classes has skyrocketed. There is a growing need for qualified instructors. The Tai Chi Academy of Northern New Jersey is a certified teacher training organization recognized by the International Yang Family Tai Chi Chuan Association as qualified to provide education to Tai Chi students interested in earning teaching credentials via the International Yang Family Tai Chi Chuan Teacher’s Academy.

The Yang Family Teacher’s Academy: This Academy is an international network of learning centers that form a global university without walls. The Tai Chi Academy of Northern New Jersey is one of the accredited centers where students receive Tai Chi training according to the standards set forth by the International Yang Family Tai Chi Chuan Association and may earn credit for hours of study which can be applied to teacher certification.

Levels and Criteria for Teacher Certification:

Associate Instructor: Current membership in the I.Y.F.T.C.C.A., have passed at least Level 2 in the Ranking Tests and have shown a commitment to learning and teaching Traditional Yang Family Tai Chi.

Certified Instructor: Current membership in the I.Y.F.T.C.C.A., have passed at least Level 4 in the Ranking Tests as well as the Certified Instructor Examination and been approved by the President of I.Y.F.T.C.C.A.

Academy Instructor: Must be Certified Instructors who have achieved 500 or more hours of teaching experience, are ranked at least Level 5 and have demonstrated expertise in training others in subject material relevant to the goals of the International Teacher’s Academy.

Academy Instructors must be recommended by the Instructors Advisory Board and approved by the Association President.

Senior Instructor: Must be Academy Instructors with 2,000 hours of teaching experience ranked Level 6 or higher. Must be recommended by the Instructors Advisory Board and approved by the Association President.

Master Instructor: Must be Senior Instructors with 4,000 hours of teaching experience and are ranked Level 7 or above. Master Instructors must be recommended by the Instructors Advisory Board and approved by the Association President.
